BC Conservation Foundation granted $50,000 in 2011 to the Nature Trust of BC to purchase and manage 811.37 hectares in the South Okanagan.

Twin Lakes Ranch encompasses critical grassland, sagebrush shrub-steppe, dry forested ecosystems and riparian habitats. It features a wide variety of species-at-risk, winter range for ungulates and wildlife migration corridor. Ponderosa Pine and Interior Douglas-Fir habitats are considered biogeoclimatic zones of conservation concern.

Twin Lakes Ranch is adjacent to conservation lands currently protected in the White Lake Basin, as well as the Bighorn Sheep-Vaseux Lake National Wildlife Area, Vaseux Protected Area, White Lake Grasslands Protected area, and extensive private conservation lands in the Vaseux Lake area.

The securement of this property helped minimize habitat fragmentation and ensures connectivity with adjacent conservation lands.
