British Columbia Conservation Foundation is a values-based enterprising non-profit charity. We promote the conservation of fish and wildlife through supporting education, collaboration and habitat enhancement.

BC Conservation Foundation is seeking an energetic, organized and adaptable person to fill a fast-paced role in project administration within our Kamloops Office. The ideal candidate is passionate about working towards conservation and the natural environment. This individual brings a positive can-do attitude to the job, as well as a willingness to learn, adapt, and respond quickly while maintaining a high standard of attention to detail. This is primarily an office-based position.

Location: Kamloops, British Columbia

Wage: $26 – $31 per hour

Hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hours a week) – flexible work hours

Term: Permanent position with extended health after a 3-month probation period

Closing Date: August 4, 2024

Job Description

The Regional Coordinator is responsible for providing project management services including grant administration, hiring and budget management for fish and wildlife projects. You will manage assigned projects, hire contractors and staff, and liaise with diverse partners. The Regional Coordinator reports to the Regional Manager out of our Kamloops Office.

Tasks of the Regional Coordinator include:

Implement and project manage contracts to completion

  • Manage budgets and financials as developed with colleagues and project partners, provide updates and associated project reports, invoices and summaries.
  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison with other agencies and partners.
  • Respond to requests for contract management services including contract development, creating project plans, financial budgets, setting up timelines, deliverables and reporting.
  • Maintain an annual $1,000,000 project portfolio.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications and/or proposals.
  • Maintain database records.
  • Secure insurance as required.

Hire workers

  • Manage human resources for project staff.
  • Handle aspects of staff recruitment as required. This may include:
    • Compose job descriptions, advertise, review resumes and shortlist candidates.
    • Schedule interviews in conjunction with project partners/technical leads.
    • Support employee onboarding needs.
    • Support payroll and accounts payable.
  • Negotiate/create subcontracts and track the life of a project.

Support Field Staff

  • Work with the Health & Safety Administrator to set up safety support for staff.
  • In conjunction with the Health & Safety Administrator confirm that all staff have appropriate first aid supplies and safety equipment.
  • Provide direction to employees and address employee concerns in a professional and confidential manner.

Organizational and Community Engagement

  • Attend or facilitate relevant meetings, workshops and committees, including work with Indigenous communities.
  • Contribute to organizational strategic and operational planning and internal committees.

Other tasks as agreed and assigned by the Regional Manager


  • Post-secondary education.
  • Strong financial literacy and budget skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office required (Sage 300 is an asset).
  • Ability to manage projects from initiation to successful completion with strict deadlines and within budget.
  • Attention to detail.


  • Post-secondary education related to accounting and environmental sciences, natural resources and/or project management.
  • Personal or professional field experience and knowledge of field safety protocols.
  • Good communications and writing skills.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
