BC Conservation Foundation granted $30,000 contribution for the “Kroener Ranch” on the Horsefly River Valley in 2009 that is purchased by the Land Conservancy of BC. The 23 hectare property consists of mixed forest and wetlands with 500 m of riverfront habitat. The property is downstream from the Horseshoe River Riparian Conservation Area managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
The Horsefly River supports one of the most important sockeye salmon runs in BC and is unique for its sockeye, chinook and coho salmon, and rainbow trout. Wildlife species include big game animals, furbearers, upland game birds and waterfowl.
