In 2007, BC Conservation Foundation granted $50,000 to Nature Trust of BC to purchase and manage the Duncan Lardeau Property, consisting of 80 hectares.
The parcel is located on the lower Duncan River and is regionally significant for fisheries. In particular, the river supports Gerrard Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Kokanee Salmon and numerous other species.
The property provides winter and spring range for deer and elk, as well as wetlands for migrant and nesting water birds, turtles, amphibians and aquatic mammals. Migratory birds use the area and the adjacent river and delta as a stopover and rest area.
