Regional Personnel

Joanne Neilson, Regional Manager, Southern BC

Prior to joining BCCF as a full-time Administrator, Joanne spent two terms working on the BCCC Lower Mainland Species at Risk project as a BCCF term employee. Her work on the Corps project involved a wide range of both field work and stewardship initiatives. The experience also provided her with valuable new skills.  Joanne quickly learned the art of working within the constraints of strict budgets as well as engaging a wide variety of stakeholders (including all levels of government) to get  tasks accomplished in a positive manner. Joanne’s knowledge of equipment, safety, and the rigors of field-work have been very beneficial to ensure the employees she oversees are well-prepared for their assignments. Joanne holds a Bachelor of Science degree (2005) with a concentration in ecology. Before becoming involved in the environmental field, she worked in customer service, technical, and management positions in both for-profit and non-profit sectors of the animal health industry.

The staff and Directors would like to thank Joanne for her dedicated efforts during her time with the BCCF and would also like to congratulate her on her recent promotion to BCCF's Regional Manager for Southern BC.

Kerry Baird, Regional Coordinator (Fisheries)

Kerry has a solid background in all aspects of project administration including contract monitoring, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting. She is currently responsible for the coordination and administration of 42 BCCF Fisheries related projects in the Lower Mainland with a total project value of almost $1M, funded from multiple sources. Included in Kerry's current responsibilities is the administration of a 3-year Living Rivers program in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island and its suite of 36 projects totaling $2.675M.

Deborah McNicol, Regional Coordinator/IT Manager

Deborah has been with BCCF since 1997. Deborah has brought to BCCF her extensive knowledge on all aspects of administrative, accounting, project management and IT-related duties, which has proven very helpful in assisting employees with computer programs, procedures, organization, etc. Her expertise in both database design and project management has provided BCCF with a means for more accurate and detailed record keeping.
