Eco Ed Helps with General Gordon Greening Project!
On Saturday, May 26th, Eco Education BC staff celebrated their year together by contributing to the schoolyard greening project at General Gordon Elementary in Vancouver BC. The staff donated several native plants to the project, and assisted with weeding, planting, digging, watering, mulching and other general garden activities.
General Gordon has been working on their greening project for several years now, and has been successful in creating an outdoor classroom, including shade gardens, butterfly and bird habitats, a grassy meadow and enhanced areas for students to play under the shade of trees.
This is an on-going greening project for General Gordon, and is designed to benefit both students and members of the community. An information board has been posted in the school yard to provide background on the school yard greening process as well as facts on the plants and animals who enjoy this space.
